The name GFlowNet was introduced in 2021 by researchers including Emmanuel Bengio, Mokshith Jain, Maksym Korablyov, Doina Precup, and Yoshua Bengio. Later work developed the mathematical foundations and extended the method to scientific discovery and other structured generation tasks.
