Origin & history
Researchers introduced generative monoculture as a named large-language-model behavior in a 2024 preprint later published at ICLR 2025. The term built on older discussions of algorithmic monoculture, in which many decision makers depend on the same systems and therefore develop correlated outputs or failures.
