On October 30, 2026, an Internet-Draft submitted to the IETF's AI Preferences working group proposed a cross-vendor policy token, __usage_ai-training, for expressing training preferences through ordinary robots.txt rules. OpenAI and Google announced support for the shared approach the same day.
