Urban China: Building an English Window on Chinese Cities

Urban China is an English-language publication for sharing policies, plans, city changes, source materials and perspectives from China with international readers.

The project

Urban China is an independent English-language publication about China's urban development and planning. It brings together policy, planning documents, city-level change, source material and analysis for readers outside China.

Why I am building it

A great deal of information about Chinese cities exists, but language and context make much of it difficult for international readers to encounter directly. The project is not only about simplifying complex documents. It is about creating a dependable path through information, evidence and perspective.

What I am working through

The product questions are as important as the editorial ones: how categories should help readers orient themselves, how source material should be presented, what makes a page trustworthy, and how a small publication can remain useful over time.

Starter project note: Add your founding story, launch date, screenshots and current milestones before publishing this as the definitive project introduction.
A working note

These notes reflect my thinking at the time of publication. Ideas may change as projects, evidence and experience change.
