orbital data center

Definition of orbital data center

1. : a proposed data center for AI computing placed in orbit around the Earth, where it could run on constant solar power and shed heat into space instead of using land, water, and grid electricity

   • Supporters say an orbital data center would never compete with a city for water or power.
   • Skeptics point out that repairing an orbital data center is far harder than fixing one on the ground.
